Friday, February 28, 2014 - Marietta High School Raises Funds with ‘Pink Out’ for Strecker Cancer Center
The Marietta High School Varsity Girls Basketball Team wanted to make a positive difference in their community and take a stand against cancer. They accomplished this by hosting a “Pink Out” during their basketball game against Cambridge High School on January 22nd, 2014. Lauren Martin, a junior at Marietta High School was instrumental in organizing the Pink Out by selling pink t-shirts made available to the student body and to the general public at the game. The team took up a collection from the game attendees at half time and the opposing team, Cambridge High School presented them with $100 to go towards fighting cancer.

The total amount raised during the Pink Out was $1,288 to be donated through the Memorial Health Foundation to benefit the Strecker Patient Emergency Fund. This fund supplies patients with prescription drug assistance, medical supplies, gas cards and helps with a variety of needs a Strecker patient might have during their treatment. Daneka Hedges, Executive Director of the Memorial Health Foundation accepted the check during the presentation at the gymnasium of Marietta High School.

If you would like to help a patient in need, please send checks to the Memorial Health Foundation with a check memo of SPEF (Strecker Patient Emergency Fund). As always, if you have any questions please call the Foundation office at (740) 374-4913.
