Memorial Health System Receives Million Dollar Gift and Million Dollar Pledge
Two Memorial Health System physicians, along with their families, have each announced a $1,000,000 donation to the Memorial Health Foundation. The gifts were announced March 22 at a special evening celebrating Memorial Moments of philanthropy for the health system.
Dr. Srini Vasan, long-time resident of the mid-Ohio valley and Memorial Health System Radiation Oncologist, along with his family, have continued their tradition of philanthropy with a signature $1 million gift for the dedication of the Radiation Medicine and Radiosurgery Institute in memory of Peggy Ann Cawley, mother of Dr. Kelli Cawley; and the Vasan Family Robotic Surgery Center, to be directed by Dr. Rajendra Bhati.
Dr. Rajendra Bhati and his wife Susan announced their million dollar pledge as a desire to see the capabilities of our health system grow and flourish.
“Susan and I are pleased to announce our donation and commitment to Memorial Health System,” says Dr. Bhati., “Our pledge is truly embedded in the fact that we want the health system capabilities to continue to grow and provide outstanding services to our community, neighbors, friends and family.”
“The Memorial Health System is fortunate to have partners as giving and passionate as the Vasan and Bhati families. We very much appreciate their commitment to the health system,” says Scott Cantley, president and ceo of the Memorial Health System. “Our collaboration with our physicians has been critical in our delivery of care. We are grateful that the Vasan and Bhati families have expressed their confidence in our ability to meet the needs of our community in such an important way.”
Memorial Health Foundation Executive Director Daneka Hedges agrees. “We are extremely grateful for gifts that improve our operations and help provide new programs and services to our community. Dr. Vasan’ one million dollar donation and Dr. Bhati’s one million dollar pledge will leave a lasting philanthropic legacy and set a new bar for future giving to the Foundation.”
Vasan notes, “I have had the privilege of being associated with Memorial Health System for nearly three decades. Today the Memorial Health System is a cooperative enterprise between the community, hospital and the physicians - and right now there is such an opportunity for anyone who cares about their community to support our health system. Our system continues to grow and my family is proud to help strengthen its capacity to provide exceptional healthcare here at home.”
