October 4, 2010 - Wharff Named New Executive Director of Memorial Health Foundation
Wendy Wharff has accepted the position of executive director for the Memorial Health Foundation. She will replace Jacky Miner, current executive director, as she retires at the end of the month.
Wharff will begin her new role October 18 and spend some time transitioning with Miner prior to her retirement. As executive director, Wharff will be responsible for the fundraising activities of the Foundation, including the planning and execution of programs for annual giving, major gifts, grants, special events, and planned gifts.
“We are extremely pleased to welcome Wharff to our health system team,” said Scott Cantley, president and chief executive officer of the Memorial Health System. “Her experience within the non-profit sector and strong commitment to our community will help support our efforts to meet the growing health care needs of our communities.”
“The Foundation board of directors is very appreciative of Jacky Miner’s service these past 24 years,” said Neil Parsons, president of the Foundation board of directors. “She is a true professional who has built a great foundation to ensure future support of our health system. We look forward to working with the new director to build upon past successes.”
Wharff is a graduate of the Ohio State University. She most recently served as executive director of the Washington County Convention & Visitors Bureau. She has also held a development professional position at The Wilds in Cumberland Ohio where she managed a comprehensive fundraising campaign, developed a giving society, and helped to secure state and federal government appropriations for both program and operational support.
The Memorial Health Foundation encourages philanthropic support of Marietta Memorial Hospital, Selby General Hospital, and the entire health system, helping to fund new facilities and equipment; new programming and technology; and create endowments to fund the future of medicine in our community.
