December 6, 2010 - Selby Tobacco Prevention Program and Par Mar Inc. to Provide
Selby General Hospital’s Tobacco Prevention Program is once again partnering with Par Mar Inc., located on State Route 821 in Marietta to provide “Quit Spit Kits.” On Saturday, December 18, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., area hunters can pick up their kits, which contain herbal snuff supplements, quit line information and a brochure on self checking for early detection of cancer. “Quit Spit Kits” are offered to local hunters as an alternative to smoking or chewing while hunting.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, smokeless tobacco contains 28 cancer-causing agents. Tobacco use remains the single largest preventable cause of disease and premature death in the United States.
