September 13, 2012 - Memorial Health System Holds Depression Screening

(Marietta, OH, September 13, 2012) Memorial Health System’s psychiatric services staff will be sponsoring a depression screening day Wednesday, October 24 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. in the Strecker Center Conference Room at Marietta Memorial Hospital.

According to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), major depression is a serious medical illness affecting 15 million American adults, which is about 8 percent of the adult population, in a given year. Without treatment, the frequency of depressive illness and the severity of symptoms tend to increase over time. Participants can come any time during the screening to do a self-inventory and have their results interpreted by our professional staff. Resources on treatment options and informational handouts will be available. Free refreshments will be served. For more information, contact Carla Vickers at (740) 374-1506.
