(Marietta, OH, March 27, 2008) - Marietta Memorial Hospital was recently named as one of the Best Employers in Ohio. The Ohio Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the Manufacturers’ Education Council, the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) – Ohio State Council, Ohio Matters, and Best Companies Group, created the program.
This survey and awards program was designed to identify, recognize and honor the Best Employers in Ohio, benefiting the state's economy, its workforce and businesses. The list is made up of 20 companies split into two categories: 10 small/medium-sized companies (25-249 employees) and 10 large-sized companies (250 and more employees). Marietta Memorial Hospital has been named one of this year’s Best Employers in Ohio in the large category.
To be considered for participation, companies had to fulfill the following eligibility requirements:
- Be a for-profit, not-for-profit business or government entity;
- Be a publicly or privately held business;
- Have a facility in Ohio;
- Have at least 25 employees in Ohio;
- Be in business a minimum of 1 year.
Companies from across the state entered the two-part survey process to determine the Best Employers in Ohio. The first part consisted of evaluating each nominated company's workplace. Marietta Memorial submitted documentation about its work environment, from benefits to policies, philosophies and employee demographics. Marietta Memorial offers competitive pay and benefits, recognition for employees and a unique environment focused on compassion, teamwork, passion, respect and excellence.
The second part consisted of an employee survey to measure their experience. “Every one of our employees, physicians and volunteers contributes to make our hospital a great place to work,” said DeeAnn Gehlauf, Administrative Director of Human Resources and Organizational Development. “By sharing their talents and skills with patients, families and each other, we have created a work environment that ultimately translates to extraordinary patient care.”
“To be recognized is an honor that was earned by everyone here,” said Larry Unroe, Marietta Memorial president and ceo, “It is a tribute to their hard work and dedication. We’re committed to our patients and each other, and that makes Marietta Memorial a great place to work.”
The actual rankings will be announced at an awards ceremony held on April 15th and published in Ohio Matters.
