Marietta Memorial Hospital, The Galley and The Adelphia Music Hall have partnered to raise awareness in the community for breast cancer and funds for the Strecker Cancer Center. The Galley restaurant is donating 20 percent of all bar and appetizer proceeds to the Strecker Cancer Center Patient Emergency Fund, Monday, October 21 through Saturday, October 26 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. This fund supplies patients with prescription drug assistance, medical supplies, gas cards and helps with a variety of needs a Strecker patient might have during their treatment at the Strecker Cancer Center. The Galley is also reaching out to local businesses by handing out pink pumpkins with literature from the Strecker Cancer Center to remind people to put their health first and schedule their mammogram appointment.
“We feel that doing this is a way to really promote community awareness and get people thinking about and supporting patients and their families as well as taking care of themselves,” states Emily C. Martin, director of marketing, retail operations for Alliance Industries, Inc. This week the waiting area of The Galley restaurant will transform into a beacon of hope, inspiration and support. There will also be cards that customers of The Galley can fill out to put on display to honor their loved ones or just as a message of encouragement to those fighting.
“It is wonderful that The Galley has put in the efforts to raise money for the Strecker Patient Emergency Fund. These efforts raised will impact the lives of patients right here in our local community, whether it is a family member, dear friend or just because; it is great to know that your donation has the potential to change someone’s life,” says Daneka Hedges, interim director, Memorial Health Foundation.
If you would like to help a patient in need, please send checks to the Memorial Health Foundation with a check memo of SPEF (Strecker Patient Emergency Fund). As always, if you have any questions please call the Foundation office at (740) 374-4913.
