November 3, 2014 - Marietta Shrine Club Funds Memorial Health System Therapy Gym

The Marietta Shrine Club has announced a donation of $39,355 to the Memorial Health Foundation to fund a new sensory gym and pediatric treadmill system for its pediatric therapy patients.

Now installed in the new Pediatric Therapy offices at 310 Eighth Street on the Wayne Street Medical Campus, the Fun Factory Sensory Gym offers patients positive play in a therapeutic environment.

Ann Marie Lowers, Senior Director Therapy Services with the Memorial Health System, says the new gym will educate, challenge and stimulate their patients. “This gives children with developmental challenges the opportunity to experience a new therapeutic setting, which can help achieve functional skills and transition children to the next level. Our team of therapists can use every single inch of the space this gym provides,” says Lowers, “There is room for several patients at a time and our therapists now have a new tool to help their patients reach their fullest potential.”

"We are thrilled that the Marietta Shrine Club agreed to again support our pediatric services,” says Daneka Hedges, Executive Director of the Memorial Health Foundation. “Donations like these help bring critical technology, care and services to our region so our youngest patients have convenient access to quality care.”

The Pediatric Therapy Department at the Memorial Health System provides speech, physical and occupational therapy to address developmental skills, flexibility, strength, language and other services to children with developmental delays and other disorders.
