Marietta Memorial Hospital is celebrating it's annual Love Lights program now through December 31. Love Lights contributors make charitable gifts to honor those they love. Donations are represented by glowing white lights on the Love Lights trees. Dozens of volunteers create 25 tree displays at Marietta Memorial. For many area residents, the Love Lights open house and tour mark the beginning of the holiday season.
The open house is scheduled for Thursday, November 29 at 6:30 p.m. on the first floor surgery area at Marietta Memorial Hospital.
For the 14th and final year, Love Lights supporters who donate $100 or more will receive a free, original Fenton Glass holiday ornament. The unique hand painted glass disks can be acquired only through support of Marietta Memorial’s hospice services at year-end.
The 2007 ornament is deep blue glass with painted silhouettes of skaters on a pond. “Area families have collected the Fenton ornaments year after year,” said Jacky Miner, Foundation Director. “Some have a special tree or area of their homes dedicated to the memory of a loved one. Others give these ornaments to special people in their lives.”
Fenton Art Glass is closing, and this is the last year the ornament program begun by Foundation emeritus trustee Bill Fenton will be in place. Love Lights volunteers are looking now for a comparable artisan locally made ornament to offer in years ahead.
Donations to Love Lights brighten lives throughout the year by providing hospice services to terminally ill patients and their families. The hospice team is characterized by compassion, versatility and clinical experience. Every year, they help hospice families face life’s end with comfort and dignity.
Remember the Loves of Your Life! Gifts of all sizes are welcome. For more information, contact the Marietta Memorial Health Foundation at 740-374-4913 or visit us on the web at www.mmhospital.org/lovelights.
