Marietta Memorial Hospital’s Addiction and Pain unit will be providing a two part lecture series on Addiction, “Understanding Addiction” and “Impact of Addiction on Family Members”.
The lecture series is free, open to the public and held at the Strecker Conference Center. “Understanding Addiction” will be held on Thursday, October 11 and “Impact of Addiction on Family Members” will be held on Thursday, October 18. Both events will begin with refreshments at 6:45pm, with the lecture from 7:00 – 8:00 pm. The speakers will be available afterwards for questions.
“The seminar is for parents, students, and community members,” said Charlie Hasse, Director of Behavioral Health Services at Marietta Memorial Hospital. “We are trying to send the message on how addiction is a brain disease that can affect anyone and that it can be treated. We want to help change the perception and stigma of addiction.
The presenters will be Karen Hunsaker, LISW, LICDC and Marylu Hughes, LPCC.
