Marietta Memorial Hospital’s Addiction & Pain Services is sponsoring a pain management seminar titled “Power over Pain”. The seminar is being held on May 1, 2007, at the Lafayette Hotel from 1:30 – 3:00 pm. The presenters will be Tracy Marx, DO and Sarah McGrew, RN, both from the Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine.
“The goal of the seminar is to help people with chronic pain to learn how to stop viewing pain as unbearable and learn the techniques to get their pain level down,” said Karen Hunsaker, LISW, Clinical Specialist in Pain Management. “Sufferers will learn to relax and pace themselves and will also learn pro-active problem solving skills that will help lessen their pain.”
Marietta Memorial Hospital also has a Cognitive Behavioral Chronic Pain Management group that helps people learn the coping skills for dealing with chronic pain. For more information on either of these programs please contact Montell Hutchison at 740-376-1994.
