Think F.A.S.T. 5K Run/Walk Set for April
The community is invited to participate in the Think F.A.S.T. 5 K Run/Walk sponsored by the Memorial Health System’s Rehabilitation Center Saturday, April 27, 2013. The event is a fundraiser for the Bridges Forward Program, a collaboration between the Memorial Health System and the Marietta Family YMCA.
“F.A.S.T. stands for Fighting Against Stroke Together,” says event coordinator Casey Maston of the Rehabilitation Center, “This program keeps stroke survivors exercising regularly, helps them maintain strength and mobility and transitions them from being a medical patient back to a community member.”
The program also plays a role in preventing a recurrent stroke. Many participants in the program do not have the financial means to afford a gym membership, and because of their stroke were removed from the workforce and may not be successful at performing a home exercise program independently.
People can register for the event by logging onto www.mmhospital.org/thinkfast. The first 50 entries receive a free T-shirt.
Cost to participate is $15 if you register prior to April 19. Registrations taken after are $20.00. The race will begin at the Marietta Aquatic Center, run through the Muskingum Trail, and end back at the Aquatic Center.
