Fund Run 5K Run/Walk Set for October
(Marietta, OH…October 3, 2015) The community is invited to participate in the annual Memorial Health System Fund Run 5K race Saturday, October 3, 2015.
People can register for the event by logging onto www.mhsystem.org/fundrun5k. Registration opens at 8:00 a.m. and begins at 9:00 a.m. The cost is $15 per runner/walker registered before September 25, and $20 per runner/walker registering September 26 up to the day of the race. The race will take place at the parking lot of the Marietta Aquatic Center, Marietta.
The event is a fundraiser to benefit three funds housed within the Memorial Health Foundation: Stroke Support, Diabetes Education, and Bariatric Exercise Programs.
Funds raised at the Fund Run will support community based exercise programs for:
Stroke or neurologically injured patients discharged from Marietta Memorial’s outpatient rehabilitation services.
Diabetes education program provides educational support at low or no cost to patients needing the support and coping with the disease.
Bariatric program is under development to provide exercise program opportunities to patients needing to lose weight and improve their health.
Many participants in the program do not have the financial means to afford a gym membership, and because of their stroke were removed from the workforce and may not be successful at performing a home exercise program independently.
