???Volley for a Cure Raises $3,600 for Memorial Health Foundation???
(October 15, 2015, Marietta, Ohio) –
On October 5th, Volley for a Cure took place during the volleyball game between Warren High School and Marietta High School. During this game, donations were accepted to benefit the Strecker Patient Emergency Fund held by the Memorial Health Foundation. Over $3,600 was raised from the community. This event was held during Breast Health Awareness Month.
The Strecker Patient Emergency Fund goes directly to patients receiving care through the Strecker Cancer Center at Memorial Health System. This fund can help with transportation costs, medicine costs, diagnostic breast exams, mammograms and any other costs associated with receiving treatment.
Daneka Hedges, Executive Director of the Memorial Health Foundation, said “It is wonderful to see young adults coming together to raise awareness about cancer in our region by supporting the Strecker Patient Emergency Fund. The Marietta High School girls’ volleyball team played their hearts out for the loved ones they lost to cancer. It is great to see young philanthropists in our community.”
