What is a colonoscopy?
A colonoscopy is a procedure that allows your provider to check the inside of your entire large intestine or colon. This procedure can help your provider look for problems in your colon, including early signs of cancer, red or inflamed tissue, ulcers or bleeding.
What should I expect?
Before any colonoscopy, your provider will explain the procedure to you. Your physician will give you very specific instructions for your prep. You will have to stop eating a few hours before, and you will have an IV with medications, fluids and sedation during the procedure. You will also be sedated during the procedure.
