Selby General Hospital’s orthopedic surgeons and specially-trained team offer innovative techniques and procedures to treat injury and disease of the bones and joints, from simple fractures to sports injuries to more complex cases like orthopedic spine procedures. As one of the most advanced orthopedic programs in the region, we perform hundreds of total knee and hip replacements and over 2,000 orthopedic cases yearly improving outcomes for patients. We have four surgical suites dedicated to orthopedics and perform total knee, hip and shoulder replacements as well as a variety of outpatient procedures such as arthroscopies of the knee and shoulder.

You’re unique and your care should be, too. That’s why we’ve designed Signature Care for Orthopedics at Selby General Hospital. With our newly renovated facilities, specialized therapy program and dedicated experts, we are ready to make your joint replacement experience a positive one. Our team consists of certified and specialized staff that are dedicated and committed to providing top quality orthopedic care. When it comes to orthopedic care, you don’t need to go anywhere else—you can get the care you need right here at home.

Patient Journey

One of the most unique and appreciated services offered by our joint replacement program is our patient care navigator. Cathy Lee,  MSN, RN, CFRNP, is specially trained in orthopedic navigation and is here for you and your family. Having an
experienced nurse guiding you throughout your journey so that you know what to expect helps you get to your healthiest sooner. She coordinates your education; prepares you for surgery and assists in scheduling appointments and communication. Our care navigator provides face to face education for total joints in conjunction with other dedicated experts to facilitate their experience and care to make it successful from pre-op to home.

Your treatment plan is prepared with one goal in mind: restoring optimal joint function and reducing or eliminating pain so you can resume daily activities as quickly and safely as possible. You can contact our care navigator, Cathy, by calling (740) 568-2216 or emailing her directly at clee@mhsystem.org.

Individualized Therapy Care
Each patient receives a thorough evaluation by our physical and occupational therapists on the day after surgery. Our therapy team carefully considers the needs, lifestyle and comfort level of each patient as they determine the best course of rehabilitative therapy. Post-operative rehabilitation occurs on a one-to-one basis at your bedside and includes gait, transfer and balance training as well as a thorough review of available adaptive equipment.

A Comfortable Environment
The inpatient unit is part of a complete medical, diagnostic and surgical program, with many amenities to enhance patient comfort and facilitate healing. Our unit was designed based on research that links recovery with the patient’s physical environment. Our operating rooms bring together the space needed to accommodate the technology and an environment that provides the best possible outcome for patients. Patient rooms are designed to manage patient recovery from surgery and their therapy needs all in one location.
