Description

Pulmonary hypertension is a type of high blood pressure affecting arteries in the lungs and the right side of the heart. In some people, pulmonary hypertension slowly gets worse and can be life-threatening.


Overview

Symptoms include shortness of breath, dizziness, a fast heartbeat, and chest pain or pressure. The lower legs and ankles may be swollen. The skin, lips and nails may look blue or gray. Depending on your skin color, these changes may be harder or easier to see.

Treatments include medicines, surgery or a lung transplant.
