Chew your food thoroughly, eat smaller meals, and try foods with different textures. Avoid caffeine, nicotine, alcohol, and any foods that may be hard to swallow.
Self-care
See a doctor immediately if:
- Trouble breathing
- Lasting feeling that food is stuck in throat
- Can’t swallow anything
When to seek immediate medical care
Make an appointment to see a doctor if:
- Lasts more than few days
- Unintentional weight loss
- Vomiting
