Marinara sauce
Serves 10
Tip: Host a spaghetti dinner for 10. Make a huge salad, homemade marinara and whole-wheat pasta.
- Add 1 teaspoon olive oil.
- Add 1 medium onion.
- Stir continuously for 2 minutes.
- Add 3 garlic cloves.
- Stir 1 minute.
- Add 1 cup red wine.
- Let mixture reduce by half.
- Add 5 cups no-salt-added tomato sauce.
- Add 1 tablespoon dry oregano and 1 tablespoon dry basil.
- Add 2 teaspoons sugar.
- Add 1 teaspoon salt.
- Add 1/4 teaspoon ground fennel.
- Add 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper.
- Let simmer on very low heat 15 to 20 minutes.
