Memorial Health System Hosts Community Open House

Friday, May 31st, 2024

With over 300 community members in attendance, Memorial Health System’s (MHS) community open house showcasing their brand-new Athens Medical Campus (AMC) was a stunning success.

Scheduled to begin operating on June 13th at 7 a.m., the first-floor emergency department at Athens Medical Campus was a hub of activity on Wednesday, May 29th, as doors were opened for community members to explore the newest MHS addition to the Athens area. Spirits were high as attendees toured the emergency department and its offerings, snacked on light refreshments provided by The Changed Plate, and listened to key speakers share their thoughts on this exciting new facility and the healthcare opportunities it will bring to the area.

One keynote speaker, President and CEO of Memorial Health System, Scott Cantley, states:

“As we enter a market, we always lead with building great emergency care. It’s a service line that we’ve lifted and made sure it’s world-class. Our emergency services are one of the things we do best, and we’re thrilled to showcase not only a beautiful facility and environment, but a wonderful, plentiful team.”

Though the 100,000-square-foot facility is the largest healthcare facility in North America built using smart off-site construction from MODLOGIQ, the importance of keeping Athens at the center of the project was not to be overshadowed by the magnitude of the build—something that NAC Architecture, the architecture firm heading the design of AMC, kept in the forefront of every decision.

“Not only were we wanting to create a state-of-the-art healthcare and wellness facility for Memorial Health System,” shares Ron Frissora, architectural Project Manager and Principal at NAC Architecture, “but we wanted to create an uplifting and familiar environment that would serve as a hub to the local community.” That vision was evident throughout the entire facility, with nature scenes highlighting the natural beauty of Athens County and art created by local artists greeting visitors at every turn of their tour.
