What is a Nurse Practitioner?

As a nurse practitioner, Sarah Limer, NP works side by side with physicians to perform physical exams and procedures, order diagnostic and laboratory tests, and diagnose and treat common medical conditions. Nurse practitioners can also serve as a patient’s regular healthcare provider.

Education and Experience

Sarah has lived in the Mid-Ohio Valley for over 20 years. Sarah graduated from WVU at Parkersburg with her Associate degree in Nursing in 2003, completed her BSN from WVU in 2007, and in 2011 graduated from Wheeling Jesuit University with her MSN and became board certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner. Due to the lack of mental health services available in the area, and wanting to help with this void, she returned to school and in 2020 became board-certified as a Psychiatric mental health Nurse Practitioner, graduating from Liberty University. Sarah has a variety of experience in the medical field, starting as a teenage volunteer being a “candy striper” in the hospital, being a medical assistant during nursing school, working as a RN in the hospital in the ICU, CCU, step down unit, being an instructor in college, working in family practice, and presently working in an outpatient psychiatric mental health office. She is passionate about wanting to help others. When not at work, she enjoys spending time with her family, friends, and pets. She enjoys thrift shopping, photography, and crafting. She is an active volunteer in the community.
