Sports Med & Ortho
Our Department of Sports Medicine and Ortho teams work hand-in-hand to deliver the highest level of care for active individuals—no matter their injury, condition, or recovery goals.
Our Sports Medicine team is often your first point of contact for non-surgical injury care, overuse conditions, and performance concerns. With a focus on evaluation, prevention, and rehabilitation, we help patients return to motion safely and effectively.
When a condition requires surgical intervention or more advanced ortho expertise, we collaborate directly with our fellowship-trained ortho provider—the only sports medicine–trained orthopedic surgeon in the region. This allows us to ensure each patient gets the most appropriate care for their specific needs, without delay or confusion.
Whether you start with sports medicine or ortho, you’ll benefit from a unified approach to diagnosis, treatment, and recovery—right here in our community.
Our team approach
High School Athletics Program
Sports medicine is a true team effort—starting on the sidelines and continuing through recovery. Our certified athletic trainers are often the first point of contact for student-athletes who experience injuries during practice or competition. Through our High School Athletics Program, we’ve partnered with local schools since 2016 to place full-time athletic trainers on-site for daily coverage, injury prevention, and early intervention.
To learn more about our High School Athletics Program, contact our athletic trainer supervisor at (740) 374-6030.
Sports medicine and ortho care
When an injury occurs, our athletic trainers serve as the gateway to more advanced care. They work closely with our sports medicine provider for evaluation and non-surgical treatment. If specialized or surgical care is needed, they help transition the athlete to our fellowship-trained ortho surgeon—the only provider in the region with advanced sports medicine training.
Therapy services
From there, we continue care through in-house therapy services, including physical and occupational therapy, to support a full and safe return to activity. This seamless connection between athletic trainers, physicians, and therapists ensures athletes receive the right care, at the right time, in the right place.
